Vacuum cleaner filters and dust allergy.
Different filters in the vacuum cleaner ensure that the dirty particles are retained from the sucked-up air. This way, the motor remains protected from dust and the vacuum cleaner blows clean air again.
A vacuum cleaner draws in dirty air, stops the dirt, and blows clean air out again.
For vacuum cleaners with dust bag, the bag is the first filter of the air flow. Then the air passes through the engine filter and exhaust filter before it leaves the vacuum cleaner again.
What is the purpose of a motor filter?
The motor filter stops (small) dust particles that have passed through the dust bag or past the dust container. With this, the filter protects the engine. Important, because dust in the engine can reduce performance or cause damage.
What is a HEPA filter?
Many vacuum cleaner models have a HEPA filter as an exhaust filter and sometimes also as a motor filter. HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air. HEPA filters can be recognized by a frame with a grid in it. The air passes through the very fine grid, so that these types of filters can hold more and smaller dust particles.
HEPA filters have codes, such as 12, 13 or 14. The higher the number, the finer the filter and the smaller the particles it collects and the better it filters the air.
